Our goal is practical accessibility. Citizenship preparation should be usable by people with different devices, abilities and ways of navigating. We design the public site around semantic HTML, visible keyboard focus, labelled form controls, readable contrast, predictable navigation and alternatives to purely visual information.
Keyboard access
Core navigation, forms and test controls are intended to work without a mouse. The site includes a skip-to-content link and visible focus styles so keyboard users can tell where they are on the page. We avoid making essential actions depend only on hover or drag gestures.
Headings and navigation
Pages use descriptive headings, breadcrumbs where appropriate, consistent site navigation, internal search and country directories so visitors have more than one way to find important information.
Images and flags
Meaningful images include text alternatives. Country flags are accompanied by country names, so recognising a flag is never required to understand which country a link represents.
Forms and test controls
Inputs are labelled, validation errors are shown in text, and test answers use standard interactive controls. Timed mock exams show remaining time visually and should not rely on colour alone to communicate question status.
Readable content
We aim for clear language, comfortable line length, responsive layouts and sufficient spacing. Content can be zoomed using browser controls, and the interface is designed to work across phones, tablets and desktop screens.
Known limitations and continuous improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing process, especially as new countries, languages and interactive features are added. Third-party government websites linked from Citizenship Test Hub are outside our control. If you encounter a barrier on our site, please report the page, device or assistive technology involved so we can investigate it.
